These chromolithographs originate from "Sverige framstäldt i taflor." This series of prints was published by Albert Bonniers Förlag between 1850 and 1856 and became a significant success for the publisher. The collection comprised a total of 96 prints, released in 24 installments. The installments cost 1 Riksdaler banco and 16 skilling and were available only by subscription, not as individual issues. The idea was for buyers to bind the collection once it was complete. Forty-two of the originals were created by the Danish artist Frederik Christian Kiærskou, who traveled around southern and central Sweden on Bonniers' commission for two years (1848-1850). A number of originals were also created by Joseph Magnus Stäck. The lithographic work was done by Alexander Nay, and the descriptive texts were written by Johan August Berg.
