The Villa Farnesina is a Renaissance suburban villa in the Via della Lungara, in the district of Trastevere in Rome, central Italy. The print was first published in 1693. It is a fine example of Renaissance art. The work was published in Florence, Italy.

Nicolas Dorigny (1658-1746) was a French painter and engraver known for his skillful reproductions of classical artworks and historical scenes. He collaborated closely with his father, Michel Dorigny, and other prominent artists of his time, contributing to prestigious projects such as illustrating Virgil's "Aeneid" and creating engravings for royal commissions. Dorigny's works are characterized by their meticulous detail and elegant style, reflecting his mastery of the engraving technique and his dedication to classical themes.
