William Cullen Bryant (1794-1878) was an American poet, journalist, and editor who played a significant role in 19th-century American literature. He was born in Massachusetts and began writing poetry at a young age. Bryant's early work reflected Romantic themes, emphasizing nature, morality, and the beauty of the American landscape.
